| I've been playing violin for 15 years. I currently study with Joel Smirnoff and formerly studied under Roland and Almita Vamos, Rachel Barton Pine, and Desiree Ruhstrat. I have also been coached by Ilya Kaler, Paul Kantor, Matt Albert, and Nathan Cole among others. I have also performed in master classes given by the Tokyo String Quartet, Donald Weilerstein, Stephen Clapp, and Jennifer Koh. Biggest classical influences: Jascha Heifetz, David Oistrakh, Gil Shaham, Anne Sophie-Mutter, and Hilary Hahn.
Don't know if I have "rock influences"...but here are bands I enjoy: Dream Theater, Weezer, Elliot Smith, The Postal Service, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Franz Ferdinand, Smashing Pumpkins, Jesse Malin, The Fray, Gaelic Storm, Goo Goo Dolls, Styx, Coldplay, Aerosmith, System of a Down, Tenacious D, Incubus, U2, Rage Against The Machine, Apocalyptica, Ben Folds, Chicago, Tool, The Monkees, Oasis, Our Lady Peace, Pink Floyd, Spoon, Queen, Queens of the Stone Age, Radio Head, Simon & Garfunkel, Sufjan Stevens, Wilco, Victor Wooten, No Doubt, and Kansas....just to name a few. gear: electric: yamaha sv120, digitech gnx3 acoustic: Petrus Joannes Mantegatia 1771 college: The Juilliard School for Violin Performance Future plans: to play and perform wherever...whenever...including laundry rooms at 2am. I love playing ultimate frisbee, tapping, and reading in trees in my spare time... oh and my guilty pleasure is coffee and sushi and triple chocolate mousse with raspberries but not necessarily in that order or together. I also got my two front teeth knocked out by a marble floor when I was 10. |
